Curley’s No Named Wife

Curley’s wife is the no named character of the story ‘’Of mice and men’’. She is very lonely as the only female on the ranch. Her husband Curley is an angry man, Curley’s wife married him to get away from her family and in the hope of becoming a Hollywood star when she gets away from Curley. Curley’s wife is the trouble maker of the ranch, she makes Curley hot-headed by her flirting with the workers of the ranch. In this text i am going to describe the only female character of the book, Curley’s wife.

As the two workers; George and Lennie walk along the Cobilan mountains, a few miles from Soledad. They see the ranch that they are going to work on. As they get to know the people on the ranch, the meet Curley’s wife, she is as pretty as she is dangerous. Lennie gets a good eye for her and later in the story it gets huge consequences for Lennie.

Curley’s wife is an example of the American  dream that may be the main reason why Steinbeck includes her in the story. She is also the reason why Lennie got killed.

When Curley’s wife does not get a name you does not have the same respect for her as if she had a name, you also does not get the feeling that she is a nice person.
